Atlantic City & the $80,000 couch
Ok. As much as I hate to admit it, I do enjoy Atlantic City. However, that is jersey's ONLY saving grace.
Moving along...
A.C. was a lot of fun. I went with 3 colleagues, all of whom walked away with significantly more money than they came with. They said I was good luck for them and that I also brought out the worst in everyone when trying to sleep- that is, they slept, I didn't. I can deal with snoring, but my first night bedmate made this hideous noise as she pushed the air from her lungs every few seconds. The next night was considerably better. At any rate...
We did the usual bit of gambling, took a craps lesson, and strolled the board walk looking for the nearest starbucks while I recreated Hitchcock with a bit of cake and dozens of seagulls. I found them cute, but half the party bolted a good 1/8 mile in a few seconds.
At night, we did The Price is Right Live stage show. I highly recommend seeing that if you can. $25 a ticket was avoided by the use of comps. Before the show I had to register, get my official "price tag", and guess the prices of two items in 1973 or something. We all guessed on a pinball machine and a couch. The pinball machine I guessed $375 on. I knew I was off, but I wasn't taking any chances with the couch! $80,000? Sure, why not?! I definitely did not want on this show. That sentiment was to change, but the guess did its job. The woman screening the guesses inquired if that was actually my guess, haha!! It turned out that one person I went with got on and won a microwave, a dvd player, an air hockey table, and maybe one other thing not jumping to mind. A second person with whom I was staying also got on, but this time she got on for the big wheel. She didn't win, but she got a T-shirt that she was destined to use for picking up guys. Too bad it didn't do anything for the woman at Dunkin' Donuts, probably the only person that really paid any attention to it. I used my camera and got several pictures. Note* if you do this, make certain that you can turn your flash off, or you will probably have it confiscated. Because I wish to maintain anonymity, I won't be posting the pictures and, as you probably have noticed, I have avoided names and other details. Just trust me on this, catch The Price is Right live stage show at Bally's Claridge Hotel.
